Our January volunteering will consist of two events:

Athletic Shoe Drive

Clean out your closet, take a peek under the bed and ask your friends and family – chances are, you’ll find a few pairs of kicks lying around that have seen better days.

Adopt a Family 2011

For Christmas this year, eleven of us adopted a family to make their holiday season special through Helping Hands Hawaii.

State’s First Mobile App Improves Accessibility of Business Information

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) today unveiled the State of Hawaii’s first application for mobile devices. Center for Digital Government Award

HIC won the Center for Digital Government Best Fit Integrator Award for the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board Online Licensing System.

Features of the system include:

Online application for standard and provisional license types;Ability to print a copy of your license;Adding a teaching field;Receiving important announcements;Renewal reminders;Payment of fees;24/7 access to individuals records/documents.

Trail Clearing w/ DLNR at Kaena Point

Volunteering

In June, HIC and DLNR worked together to clear a new trail at Kaena Point. We created a new short footpath to prevent erosion in a location highly known for people going off trail. We worked with our partner, Aaron, who leads the Na Ala Hele Trails Program for DLNR. The work was done in collaboration with various members of the Hawaii Ultra Running Team (H.U.R.T.) and DLNR staff.

Electronic Bench Warrant System Receives 2010 Digital Government Achievement Award

Awards

The Judiciary and Hawaii Information Consortium’s (HIC) joint collaboration, the electronic bench warrants system (eBW), received a 2010 Digital Government Achievement Award from the Center for Digital Government as one of the best state government-to-government websites in the country.

The award ceremony was held on September 17 and attended by honorees from government agencies nationwide.

Hawaii County Motor Vehicle Registration Renewal Now Available Online

Renewing your motor vehicle registration is easier, as the County of Hawaii launches an online motor vehicle registration renewal service. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
