A Day at the Beach With AccesSurf

Volunteering

Our penultimate volunteer event of 2019 was strategically chosen because it reflects so much of what makes our island home special – sharing aloha and the ocean. Eleven of us joined AccesSurf at their ‘Wounded Warrior Day at the Beach’ program at White Plains beach park. The event was open to active duty and veteran service men and women who are injured, wounded, or battling illness and their families.

Adopt a Family 2019

Volunteering

Continuing our annual tradition, team HIC adopted three families this holiday season. Adopt A Family is a seasonal program administered by Helping Hands Hawaii that links individuals and families in need with donors in the community. Participants are referred to the program through their large network of community partners, and donors participate by adopting a family and fulfilling their holiday wish lists.

Hawaii MyPVL Service Now Accepting Address Change Requests

Site launches

The Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) Professional and Vocational Licensing Division (PVL) has announced address change requests are now being accepted through the online licensing dashboard, MyPVL.

The Professional and Vocational Licensing Division currently receives more than 18,000 hard copy address change requests annually, which normally results in a processing time of 15-20 business days. Online address change requests will reduce the processing time to 3-5…

International Coastal Cleanup Day in Kahuku

Volunteering

On Saturday 21st, Jamie, Steve and Rosie participated in a beach cleanup hosted by Plastic Free Hawaii, a program of the Kōkua Hawaii Foundation. Over 150 volunteers removed 4,329 lbs of marine debris from James Campbell Wildlife Refuge in Kahuku with over 2,000 lbs of that being from derelict fishing nets. 1,600 lbs was sorted and will be recycled by Parley.
