Honolulu Fire Department Website Wins Two Awards

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) was recently awarded with two top honors for its recent redesign of the official website at fire.honolulu.gov.

The Interactive Media Council recognized the HFD website with its highest honor, the Best in Class award for excellence in government. The judging consisted of various criteria, including design, usability, innovation in technical features, standards compliance and content. The HFD website achieved a perfect or near perfect overall score and excelled in the strict guidelines for each criteria.

The HFD was also presented with the Government Standard of Excellence award from the Web Marketing Association’s 25th annual WebAward Competition.

Serving as the official website for the department, the redesigned site makes it easy for users to find information on common topics including firecrackers, permits, inspections, and in-depth fire and life safety information curated specifically for homeowners, businesses, keiki, and kupuna. A primary feature on the new site is the addition of an online request for information form which allows citizens to request fire incident reports, property records, or schedule a variety of fire safety education events such as fire safety presentations.

The HFD website was redesigned in partnership with NIC Hawaii, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tyler Technologies.
