Delivering Meals on Wheels with Biki
Biki is the name of the bikeshare program in Honolulu. Earlier this year, we partnered with them to offer a special employer plan to our staff that paid for unlimited free rides. In our dense urban area, these bikes make getting around a breeze.
So in April, when Biki started a collaboration with Meals on Wheels to deliver meals to the community on Biki bikes, we naturally had to join. Meals on Wheels serves more than 400 meals a day to Hawaii’s kupuna (elderly), providing them with hot meals as well as some company during lunch or dinner time. The routes that were normally taken by car, were adapted for bikes. Throughout the months of June and July, 15 of our team members delivered meals during six different shifts. Many liked it so much, they even signed up to do it more than once.
It’s been great way to use our lunch hour to do some good (and get fit at the same time)!
