SPCA Coin Drive: Final Results
Phew it’s been a busy few days around here with the volunteering efforts. Deanna volunteered to drive us to drop off both the family items plus the SPCA donations. Leaving work at 1:30, we first stopped at the warehouse to drop off our adopt a family gifts. From there, we started to head to Kapolei where the SPCA is located. For those of you unaware, this is a bit of a drive by Hawaii standards… something like 30 miles away! Of course, I hadn’t prepared and actually looked up the closing time which turned out to be 3. The clock read 2:28 when we realized this and decided to risk it. I even left a funny message saying we were on our way and to please wait for us. I’m sure they’ll get a laugh out of it when they hear it later! Luckily we made it with about 2 minutes to spare and they were able to take our donations.
It was our first time to the SPCA. It’s located in an industrial area outside of town and the dogs are housed in small metal enclosed areas. Pretty much all of them were barking at once so it was loud and it was all we could do to not take ALL of the dogs home with us. But we found a volunteer, dropped off our items and check and went on our way back to the office. I’m so glad we were able to help.
Thanks for driving and for all the donations Deanna, Megan, Emily, and anyone else who may have dropped something off in the kitchen. And thanks to everyone at HIC for dropping your coins and cash in our donation jars.
