- Sandy Beach Cleanup: Summary
Sandy Beach Cleanup: Summary
On July 14 we met up once again to pick up trash at Sandy Beach. Rosie, who had been out all night till 4am running with a friend to celebrate his birthday by running his age in miles (33), was the first to arrive and somehow summoned up the energy for the workday after a short rest on the beach.
It was another great turnout and the event was put on by RevoluSun and the Surfrider Foundation. This time we were treated to goodie bags made of reusable canvas, a tee shirt, a nice aluminum water bottle and some orange shades! We did the usual two hours of garbage pickup and boy did we find some nasty things, from diapers to pads to condoms and loads of alcohol everywhere. Rosie even picked up a disgusting bottle filled with all kinds of larvae that were moving and promptly threw it down (and left that one behind, apologies mother earth).
Afterwards, we were treated to delicious pizza and Janet had brought some amazing deconstructed musubi to share. The attendees were Janet and her ohana, Deanna and Rosie.
Thanks everyone for a fantastic day and thanks to Janet for the pics!
