NIC Hawaii Wins Two Interactive Media Awards

NIC Hawaii, a leader in digital government services and payments, announced today that it was the winner of two Interactive Media Awards (IMA). These honors recognize that the projects met and surpassed the basic standards of excellence that comprise the web’s most professional work and both wins were honored specifically for excellence in Government.

Hawaii.gov, received the highest honor bestowed by the IMA, a Best in Class award, which represents the very best in planning, execution and overall professionalism. Work on Hawaii.gov was completed in collaboration with the Office of Enterprise Technology Services.

Serving as the official website for the State of Hawaii, Hawaii.gov makes it easy to find information curated for government, business, residents and visitors. The most popular page is a comprehensive list of all 120+ online government services offered throughout the state and counties. Other highly requested areas include a feed of the latest government news, a directory of all departments, agencies and state officials, a public meeting calendar and weather alerts.

The second win was the City and County of Honolulu’s Record Collection website, hnldoc.ehawaii.gov, which received an Outstanding Achievement Award. Work on this project was completed on behalf of our partners at the City and County of Honolulu, Office of the City Clerk.

The site manages the flow of public testimony, executive branch submissions and legislative documents for the Honolulu City Council and makes common tasks such as searching for documents or meetings, finding information on bills/resolutions, and providing public testimony easy.

Judging for both awards consisted of various criteria, including design, usability, innovation in technical features, standards compliance and content. In order to win, the sites had to meet strict guidelines in each area — an achievement only a fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each quarter.

Rosie Warfield, Manager of eGovernment Services at NIC Hawaii said, “This award is further validation that NIC Hawaii is a leader in the industry, able to effectively and efficiently develop powerful and appealing websites on behalf of our state and county partners.”

Both sites were built in partnership with NIC Hawaii, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tyler Technologies.
