Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Launches New Online Business Services

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs’ (DCCA) Business Registration Division (BREG) announces a new service that allows the public to buy filed and certified business registration documents from the department’s Business Registration Web site, which is located at hbe.ehawaii.gov/documents/search.html.

The new service will help businesses obtain documents with greater ease and convenience and will enable department staff to more efficiently serve its business customers. More than 100,000 documents are available for immediate download. Documents that are not available for immediate download will be emailed to the purchaser within three days.

The service was initially launched in a pilot version and received top honors for technological innovation given by the International Association of Commercial Administrators (IACA). IACA presented Hawaii with the 2008 Merit Award for Outstanding Technological Innovation for the new online service at the annual IACA conference in Salt Lake City in May.

“It’s exciting to have our new online purchasing service recognized as one of the most innovative developments in the country for online business registration services,” said Tung Chan, Division Chief of the Business Registration Division. “The Business Registration staff and our partner vendor, Hawaii Information Consortium, did a great job, and we are looking forward to providing this new service to the public.”

The department’s online registration service is part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s efforts to provide businesses with innovative and efficient online government services.

“We hope our customers will enjoy the added convenience of our improved online services, which make it easier and faster to do business in Hawaii,” said Lawrence Reifurth, Director of the DCCA.

DCCA’s online services are administered through Hawaii Business Express (HBE). HBE is a multi-agency initiative that provides one-stop online registration services to new and existing businesses and now allows the public to buy business registration documents online. Since the creation of HBE, more than 33,000 businesses have been created online in Hawaii. More information about HBE may be found at hbe.ehawaii.gov/BizEx/home.eb.
