Honolulu Fire Department Website Wins Two More Awards
The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) has been nationally recognized as a winner in two additional award competitions for the redesign of their official website at fire.honolulu.gov. The site has won a total of four awards since its release in April 2021.
In November 2021, the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts presented the HFD with its coveted Gold Davey award. No more than 10% of entries win gold and must score above 90 on a hundred-point scale. This month, the HFD received the MobileWebAward, which is an outstanding mobile website award from the Web Marketing Association.
“Since the HFD website went live, 52% of our users visited the site from a mobile device,” said Acting Deputy Fire Chief Sheldon K. Hao. “From the start, we wanted to enhance and optimize the web experience for mobile users. The HFD is honored to be recognized by the Web Marketing Association because it validates the important work that we envisioned and ultimately accomplished.”
Earlier this year, the HFD received the Government Standard of Excellence award from the Web Marketing Association’s 25th annual WebAward competition and the Interactive Media Council Best in Class award for excellence in government.
The HFD site at fire.honolulu.gov was redesigned to improve navigation to allow users to easily find information on topics, including fire safety, firecracker permits, fire code, and inspections. A key feature is the online information request form, which allows citizens to request incident reports, property records, and schedule a variety of fire and life safety presentations.
“Winning four awards on behalf of our client is an honor,” said Rosie Warfield, manager of eGovernment services at NIC Hawaii. “The redesign of the HFD website was a significant accomplishment and these awards reflect the collaboration and hard work that went into the project.”
The HFD website was redesigned in partnership with NIC Hawaii, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tyler Technologies.
