Hawaii Sex Offender Search App Now Available for Download

The Office of the Attorney General Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center officially released their new mobile application, Hawaii Sex Offender Search, allowing users to view nearby offenders and search for offenders registered with the State of Hawaii.

“I am excited that the Office of Information Management and Technology could collaborate with the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center and Hawaii Information Consortium on the new mobile app. We have taken what was an already great public service directly to mobile device users, where they are most likely to use it,” said David Louie, Hawaii attorney general.

Chapter 846E, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), mandates that the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center maintain a central repository of covered offenders in the State of Hawaii. A covered offender is a sex offender or an offender against minors, as defined in Chapter 846E, HRS. Public access to this information is based solely on the fact of each offender’s criminal conviction and is not based on an estimate of the offender’s level of dangerousness.

Hawaii Sex Offender search is a free app available for Apple and Android mobile devices. Users can download the app on iTunes, http://j.mp/1eBYcTh, or GooglePlay, http://j.mp/1eGDvI5. Users without a mobile device can view an online directory of Hawaii registered sex offenders and other covered offenders at sexoffender.ehawaii.gov/sexoffender.

Both applications were created in partnership with Hawaii Information Consortium, LLC, the official Internet portal manager of eHawaii.gov.
