Go Hunt Hawaii Wins A Communicator Award

Go Hunt Hawaii, Hawaii’s official hunting resource, has been nationally recognized with a Communicator Award of Distinction in the government website category. With over 6,000 entries received from across the US and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals.

“We are extremely proud to recognize the work received in the 25th Annual Communicator Awards. This class of entries we received this season embody the ever-evolving marketing and communications industry” noted Derek Howard, director of the AIVA. He added, “On behalf of the Academy, I’d like to applaud the entrants this season for their dedication to producing outstanding content as they continue to push the envelope of creativity.”

Since 1979, close to 70,000 students have received their certifications through the Department of Land & Natural Resources (DLNR)’s Hunter Education Program. Over 2,000 students register and attend Hunter Education classes each year and Go Hunt allows hunters to manage their hunting profile, enroll in a class, view their class history, and request & print replacement certifications.

Go Hunt has improved internal processes for DLNR staff by updating and centralizing their database and making updates easy and quick. Streamlining the team’s bureaucratic duties has improved the staff’s morale, accountability, and productivity as well as resulting in a more satisfied public. Prior, users had expressed frustration with classes that filled immediately, busy phone lines, concern over frequency of class availability, as well as delays in processing certifications. With these issues solved, DLNR is now able to better serve their community.

DLNR’s Go Hunt service was created in partnership with Hawaii Information Consortium, LLC, the official Internet portal manager of eHawaii.gov.
