Hawaii State Parks Camping & Lodging Reservations Now Available Online

The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of State Parks has launched a new online camping and lodging reservation and permit system. This new service is part of the DLNR’s Recreational Renaissance initiative to increase the availability of efficient, user-friendly public services throughout the state.

With the new service, users can check availability at all State Park locations, make reservations, and submit credit card payments through the state’s secure payment system. The new online system eliminates the need for the public to visit or call Hawaii State Park offices for campsite and cabin availability and then mail in permit applications and payments. The online system also saves staff time and money spent on processing mailed or faxed permit applications as well as payments for camping and lodging reservations.

“This long-needed conversion to an Internet-based system, which is part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s ongoing effort to streamline government operations and provide more online services for the public, will vastly improve the service and convenience for both Hawaii residents and out-of-state park visitors in obtaining camping and lodging permits,” said Laura H. Thielen, Chairperson of the Hawaii Department of Land and National Resources.

“We are optimistic that this faster, streamlined service will also encourage greater camper compliance in obtaining permits, and reduce overuse and impacts to the natural resources at popular campsites,” said Dan Quinn, Administrator of the Hawaii Division of State Parks.

“We are very proud and excited to be a part of this initiative,” said Russell Castagnaro, General Manager of Hawaii Information Consortium. “As the manager of the state’s official website and online services, we will continue to partner with DLNR to make more services available online for both residents and visitors.”
