Honolulu Records Collection Website Wins Government Project Experience Award

The City and County of Honolulu’s Record Collection website, hnldoc.ehawaii.gov, was recently announced as a winner of a Project Experience Award during the 6th annual Center for Digital Government, Government Experience Awards. The awards recognize the achievements and best practices of states, cities and counties that have gone to the web and beyond to radically improve the experience of government and push the boundaries of how citizen services are delivered.

The Honolulu Records Collection site has transformed a patchwork of user interfaces and difficult-to-access document storage sites into a single, easy to use platform that makes it simple for the public to participate in the legislative process. It has also dramatically improved the efficiency of the Office of the City Clerk staff.

“The Office of the City Clerk is honored to be recognized for our efforts to provide Honolulu residents with the best possible government experience”, said Glen Takahashi, City Clerk. “The Records Collection site plays a pivotal role in improving access to public records and encouraging engagement in the Honolulu City Council’s legislative process.”

The site manages the flow of public testimony, executive branch submissions and legislative documents for the City Council and makes common tasks such as searching for documents or meetings, finding information on bills/resolutions, and providing public testimony easy. Features such as document upload, user notifications, and user customizable queries ensure that users can tailor their digital experience to their specific needs, whether they are a citizen lobbyist, a member of Honolulu City Council or Honolulu City Council staff, a member of an Executive Department, or Office of the City Clerk legislative support staff.

The Honolulu Records Collection website was built in partnership with NIC Hawaii, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tyler Technologies.
