Adopt a Family 2020
Continuing our annual tradition, team NIC Hawaii adopted a family of 10 to support this holiday season. Adopt a Family is a seasonal program administered by Helping Hands Hawaii that links individuals and families in need with donors in the community. Participants are referred to the program through their large network of community partners, and donors participate by adopting a family and fulfilling their holiday wish lists.
As a result of COVID-19, this year has proven to be one of the most challenging for our community in history. With the closure of businesses and unemployment rates at record highs, programs like AAF are needed now more than ever.
In March, our office closed to the public and since then our entire staff have been working remotely. Normally, our favorite part of adopting families is the day where we all come together to wrap gifts, listen to Christmas music, and talk story before loading everything up for delivery. But with no gatherings of more than 5 people – this year, we did our own shopping before dropping the gifts in a central location for pickup.
So while we weren’t able to take a full group photo of ALL participants this year… please enjoy taking a look inside the homes of a few of our secret santas as we wrapped, shopped and prepared our gifts.
And as always, heartfelt thanks to all of the generous staff who participated.
