Hawaii.gov Website Wins Two Awards
The State of Hawaii was recently awarded with two top honors for the official website of the Aloha State, Hawaii.gov. The awards were given in unique competitions, both recognizing the website for its innovative web development.
The W3 awards announced their annual award winners with Hawaii.gov taking home the gold in the government category. This marks the second award to be received by the W3. In 2013, Hawaii.gov was the recipient of the silver award in the same category.
Linda Day, director of the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (IAVA), stated: “We were amazed at the caliber and quality of work we received this year from the smallest agencies to the biggest firms worldwide. As the Web continues to expand in new and exciting ways, our winners continue to truly push the envelope of Internet creativity and Web design.” The W3 Awards is sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a “who’s who” of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms.
Concurrently, Hawaii.gov was presented with the Government Standard of Excellence Award by the Web Marketing Association in their 19th annual Web Award Competition.
Upgrades to the award-winning Hawaii.gov website included:
- Language translation
- Geolocation mapping service allows visitors to find government offices, EV stations, farmers markets, and more.
- 277 social media pages, 1,400+ twitter followers, a Flickr photo pool, and 30+ YouTube videos
Hawaii.gov also took a first-of-its kind approach to the gamification of government with the creation of a new one-stop shop which allows Hawaii residents to completely customize how they interact online with the state on any device, anywhere, anytime – securely and reliably. My.hawaii.gov also directly integrates nearly 60 of the 100+ online services offered in Hawaii. For highlights of the great new features, visit m.hi.gov/myhi.
